Notes from Justyna
Hopefully everyone has been doing lots of fun things during the school vacation. While the children were away we prepared some new activities in the classroom: button sewing or grinding activity. Children use mortar and pestle to grind and then they place breadcrumbs in a bird feeder.
One of our favorite winter games is a “melt an ice cube”. We play and observe how long it will take to melt our ice. Children take different actions and we play until the ice melt.
We are studying animals of the Polar Regions. From musk ox to penguins, the children are fascinated with it.
After an introduction to the clock a few weeks ago it is time to practice. Encourage children at home to watch the two hands around the clock face and talk about
what is happening now and what is coming up in the future. It is not homework. Have fun and laugh. We refer to the clock daily, though, when the times comes for a change in the class routine. One child tells me the time every morning ever since we introduced it.
Please remember- Tuesday is our show and tell day for the child who took laundry home the previous weekend.
I look forward to discuss your child’s progress during the parent conferences in March.
